The Blackbeard Pirate Flag was used by the famous Blackbeard himself. The pirate flag of Blackbeard shows a skeleton stabbing a heart with a spear on a black background.
Flying High: The Enduring Coolness of Blackbeard’s Flag
The high seas have seen many a pirate, but none have left a mark quite like Edward Teach, infamously known as Blackbeard. While tales of buried treasure and swashbuckling adventures come and go, Blackbeard’s flag continues to be a symbol of rebellious coolness. In this dive, we’ll uncover the intrigue behind Blackbeard, his flag, and why hoisting this emblem is a timeless statement.
The Legend of Blackbeard: More than Just a Pirate
Charting the Course of Edward Teach
Emerging in the early 18th century, Blackbeard’s reign on the seas, though short-lived, was filled with audacity and flair. With a penchant for theatricality, he often lit slow-burning fuses in his beard, creating an aura of otherworldly menace.
Unfurling the Blackbeard Flag: A Symbol of Defiance
More Than Meets the Eye
Sporting a haunting design of a horned skeleton clutching an hourglass and brandishing a spear towards a heart, Blackbeard’s flag was not just a banner but a proclamation. It declared the pirate’s unyielding spirit and sent a clear message: Time is fleeting, and danger is imminent.
The Modern Appeal: Why Flying Blackbeard’s Flag is Still Cool
Today, this iconic flag has transitioned from the masts of pirate ships to the flagpoles of history enthusiasts and rebellious souls alike. Its rich history combined with its striking design makes it a conversation starter and a symbol of free spirit and defiance against the norm.
Nylon Printed Flag Care Tips: Caring for Your Outdoor Blackbeard Nylon Flag
For those proudly flying a nylon printed Blackbeard flag, care is essential:
- Clean Regularly: Gently hand wash with mild detergent to preserve the vibrant design.
- Avoid Direct Sunlight: Prolonged exposure can fade the flag’s colors. Consider a shaded or semi-shaded spot.
- Ensure Proper Storage: When not hoisted, fold the flag and store in a dry, cool place to maintain its integrity.

Washington Headquarters Flag – Outdoor All Weather Super Tough / Heavy Duty Flag
Size: 3×5 feet
Six pointed Stars
This flag was used to signal the presence of the Commander-In-Chief of the Continental Armies, George Washington. It accompanied him, and was displayed near his personal tent or building. The original is believed to be the earliest surviving 13-star American flag. It is unique due to its 6-pointed stars and it appears that it was designed by Washington himself. Washington wore three silver six-pointed stars, and a blue sash across his chest, indicating his status as Commander-in-Chief of the Continental Army. Five pointed stars were not used until Betsy Ross changed them to make them easier to embroider.
This flag was also the US Navy Union Jack during the revolutionary war.
