The first national flag of the Confederate States of America 11 Stars and Bars Flag was used during the Civil War. The eleven stars stand for the eleven states that formally seceded from the Union and were admitted to the Confederacy. Tennessee was the 11th state legislature to secede, on 8th of June 1861.
