The Burnet Flag, named after interim President David G. Burnet, holds the distinction of being the first official flag of the independent Republic of Texas. Adopted in 1836 shortly after Texas declared its independence from Mexico, the flag served as a unifying symbol during the Texas Revolution. Notably, it was flown by Texian forces during key military engagements as they fought to secure their newfound sovereignty. One of the most significant battles in which the Burnet Flag was displayed was the Battle of San Jacinto, fought on April 21, 1836. This decisive encounter not only marked a turning point in the revolution but also showcased the flag as an emblem of Texian resolve and determination against Mexican forces.
