The 11th Mississippi Flag was used by the South During the Civil War.
Size: 3×5 feet Sewn Cotton
The 11th Mississippi Infantry Regiment was an infantry formation of the Confederate States Army which fought in numerous battles of the Eastern Theater of the American Civil War.
Established in May 1861 at Corinth, Mississippi, the 11th Mississippi Infantry Regiment was later mustered into service at Lynchburg, Virginia. Notably, Company A—dubbed the “University Greys”—was made up almost entirely of students from the University of Mississippi, so much so that the school’s enrollment dropped to levels that forced its closure for the duration of the war. In April 1862, the regiment’s strength was recorded at 504 men.[1]
Initially, the unit saw combat at the Battle of First Manassas under General Barnard Elliott Bee before becoming part of the Army of Northern Virginia.

In 1862 in Virginia, the regiment fought in several major battles, including Seven Pines, the Seven Days Battles near Richmond, and Second Manassas under the leadership of General William H.C. Whiting. At Antietam in Maryland, the 11th experienced fierce fighting, during which Colonel Philip F. Liddell and Major T.S. Evans were killed, Lieutenant Colonel Samuel F. Butler was wounded, and the regimental flag fell into enemy hands.
Later that year, the regiment was placed under General Joseph R. Davis’s command and sent north as part of the Gettysburg Campaign in the summer of 1863. On the second day of the Battle of Gettysburg, the 11th charged at Cemetery Ridge under heavy fire. As they retreated south, they also engaged at Bristoe Station and Mine Run before settling into winter quarters in Virginia.
In 1864, the 11th Mississippi participated in the Battles of the Wilderness, Spotsylvania Court House, and Cold Harbor. After relocating to Petersburg, Virginia, the regiment became part of the Confederate forces defending the city during its prolonged siege until the Union breakthrough in early April 1865. Ultimately, most of the surviving members were captured, and the regiment was disbanded by its final commander, Lieutenant Colonel George W. Shannon.

4th Kentucky Regiment Flag – Fourth KY Infantry Flag – Orphan Brigade Flag – Civil War 4th Regiment of Kentucky Flags
Size: 3×5 feet
This is the flag flown by 4th Kentucky Division. The 4th Kentucky Infantry Regiment was an infantry regiment that served in the Confederate States Army during the American Civil War. It was part of the First Kentucky Brigade. The 4th Kentucky Infantry was organized on September 13, 1861, at Camp Burnett in Montgomery, Tennessee, under the command of Colonel Robert P. Trabue.
After organization and muster, the regiment moved north into Kentucky and camped at Bowling Green, where it remained until early 1862. The 4th Kentucky Infantry first saw combat at the Battle of Shiloh in April 1862, losing 49% of its strength in the two-day battle. The regiment fell back to Corinth, Mississippi, after the battle and was next ordered to Vicksburg, Mississippi, to aid in the city’s defense. The 4th Kentucky soon received orders to reinforce General Braxton Bragg, whose troops were engaged in the Kentucky Campaign. The regiment was north of Knoxville, Tennessee, 20 miles from Cumberland Gap, when it received orders to return to Murfreesboro, Tennessee, because of Bragg’s subsequent retreat after the Battle of Perryville on October 8, 1862.
The 4th Kentucky came under heavy fire at the Battle of Stones River on January 2, 1863. Ordered by Bragg to attack an area that division commander Maj. Gen. John C. Breckinridge had already reconnoitered and decided was to be too heavily defended, the First Kentucky Brigade nevertheless led the charge. Initially successful, the attackers soon encountered heavy Union Army artillery fire. The 4th Kentucky lost several men, including two color-bearers, but it fared better than the brigade’s other regiments. Brigade commander Brigadier General Roger Hanson was mortally wounded in the attack.
