VA Blocks Holiday Display of Confederate Flags on Cemetery Flagpoles

The Department of Veterans Affairs will no longer allow the flying of Confederate flags at national cemeteries on Memorial Day or Confederate Memorial Day. The move comes after language in House legislation banning Confederate flags from VA cemeteries was removed from the final bill. Supporters contacted the VA asking them to take action. Private groups, like the Sons of Confederate Veterans, will still be allowed to place small flags on individual graves on certain holidays, at no cost to the government.
