Civil war re-enactments are hobbies for many people from the southern states today, for many different reasons. Understanding the culture of the Civil War era is important for men and women from all walks of life, from Native Americans to children. Reenactments accomplish more than just putting on a show, but actively teach what roles different people had in the war, and what attitudes toward the war were.
