The state of California enacted a law they thought would serve the constructive purpose of outlawing a symbol of racism and hate, the confederate flag. Instead they enacted a law that is downright silly and constitutionally invalid. To outlaw the image of a flag is the same thing as outlawing a word – impossible in society that values freedom of speech.
