“Free State of Jones,” is a movie that tells the true-life story of William “Newt” Knight, a Confederate soldier. Knight is played by Matthew McConaughey. Jones County is in Mississippi, and the movie takes place during the Civil War. The movie has been described as an ambitious undertaking that doesn’t quite reach it’s goal of intertwining several Southern narratives.
