The Vermont Flag was adopted on June 1st, 1923. The cow represents agriculture. The pine branches represent pine sprigs which were worn at the Battle of Plattsburgh (also known as the Battle of Lake Champlain which ended the final invasion of the northern states of the United States during the War of 1812).
