The Join or Die Flag is a depiction of Ben Franklin’s illustration that was first published pre-revolution to make the point that the American colonies must stand together against tyranny otherwise like a cut up snake, none would survive alone. It was critical that the colonies stick together and not make separate treaties with Britain or the United Sates to come into being. This is the image that was widely published and made the case successfully. It shows a snake chopped up in pieces with the words, Join or Die, underneath.
