The Finland Flag was adopted on May 29th, 1918. Until 1809 Finland was part of Sweden which is why the Finland Flag is similar to the Sweden Flag.The blue represents the hundreds of lakes in Finland and the clear blue skies. The white shows the snow that blankets the country during winter.
